Luminous Pulse

Duo Chen & Öhman · Clarinet & cello
A concert that makes music a multisensory experience through vibrations you can physically feel, extending rhythm beyond hearing alone – designed especially for people with hearing impairments and other disabilities.

Clarinettist Irene Chen and cellist Karolina Öhman bring together two strong musical voices in a duo that combines classical elegance with a contemporary edge. Their partnership is driven by artistic curiosity, openness and the wish to enter a real dialogue with the audience – marked by warmth, transparency and pulsing energy.

In 2026 they presented their interdisciplinary project Luminous Pulse at Musikfestival Bern together with sound artist Enoch Chen. The work received its world premiere there, in line with the festival’s focus on inclusive, sensorially expanded concert formats. The programme explores rhythm and resonance beyond what can be heard, inviting every listener into a multisensory experience.

Alongside this project, the duo performs a versatile programme that moves effortlessly between classical repertoire, contemporary music and cross-genre works. Whether in avant-garde premieres or reimagined classics, Irene and Karolina create concerts that are stimulating, immediate and accessible.
